We met with a different guide from that same outfitter that evening for our coastal duck hunt. The guide was not even wearing camo, he did not have a duck call, no bird dog, and no blind. Most of the decoys were male and were all bumping together in the spread. The guide also wanted to be back in before dark so while we were picking up his decoys we saw the majority of the ducks flying overhead at that time. We were lucky to have a shot at two high flying flocks and were only able to drop two ducks that day. I emailed with Larry, the owner of Coastal Wings and he said that they do not use dogs because the oysters will hurt their feet, no calls because red head duck do not respond to calling, and no blind because there is no need to set one up.
Great guide service for hunters
I highly recommend Run N Gun Outfitters and will be hunting with them again on my next coastal trip. Watch out for Coastal Wings as their guides lack experience. We spoke to a group of 8 that went out with Run N Gun on Sunday morning, 8 limits on Specklebellies, 20 snows, and 8 sandhill cranes.

Larry at Coastal Wings had us arrive over an hour before we would head out to the site to hunt Sandhill Crane. I understand the desire to have your hunters all show up on time, but when you are asked to meet at 4:30 in the morning when you will be headed out to the fields at 5:45 is a bit ridiculous. No breakfast or anything provided. The guide brought 12 decoys, there was no blind, and no bird dog. After laying in the grass with no possible shots for 6 hours we finally moved to the other side of the field where over 100 crane were present. After moving, we finally had a chance to shoot at a pair of Sandhill crane and were able to drop one. 1 crane between four hunters. We saw tons of geese, but our guide did not have a call to call any of them in and we had no goose decoys in the spread. (Other guides in the area mention that mixing geese with sandhill crane decoys is a must in this area and you often hunt both species at the same time.)
My wife purchased a wild hog hunt for Father's Day while we were on vacation from Ohio. Larry worked with her and got me a hunt while we were in Texas. The hunt was awesome. I am not a hunter, but I do occasionally shoot. Larry took me out and gave me the opportunity to enjoy a taste of Texas hunting and I was given every opportunity to get game. When I got shot my 250 lb. boar on top of the other hogs I got that night, he hooked me up with an awesome meat processor, Jureks, and my kill became wonderful food to share with my friends. I would go back with Larry anytime, and I highly recommend Costal Wings. You won't be disappointed!
I planned a hunt for four of us guys with Coastal Wings Outfitters in Bay City, TX. The plan was to hunt Sandhill Crane Saturday morning, coastal ducks Saturday evening and goose Sunday morning. I booked the hunt 2 months in advance with Coatal Wings and they required a 100% deposit up front to hold the dates, that should have been my first sign this was not a good idea.
Extremely frustrated with our failed day of hunting we made the decision to forfeit the remainder of our deposit to go Sunday with a different guide. We called Run N Gun Adventures at 11:55 at night and Dan was able to get us set up the next morning with Caleb for a coastal duck hunt. Ironically, Caleb took us to the same spot as the guide the previous evening. Caleb spread the decoys nicely and built a very nice blind for us right on the beach. He called the ducks in and we cleaned house. Pepper, the black lab bird dog, brought in the 16 ducks we shot that morning. Red heads, spoonbills, and pintails.
