We got a gift card to Fat Grass as a gift and decided to just try a bunch of stuff. The usual review I hear from people is that the food is decent, but not worth the cost. Very gorgeous inside, hostess was super friendly. We ordered the filet mignon, meat loaf dinner, chicken fettuccine alfredo, the fried mozzarella, the cheesecake, and the coffee brownie. They never asked how we wanted the steak cooked, and to be totally fair, we never specified either, so they took it upon themselves to cook it well done, that coupled with the fact that it was a very small and thin cut, very thin for a filet mignon, it was rock hard, and had no flavor except char. The potatoes they served with it were pretty good. The fettuccine was actually very good, maybe a bit heavy handed on the white wine, it gave it a very rich flavor, kinda difficult to eat it all at once, but overall, very good. The meat loaf dinner was good, no complaints. The fried mozzarella was awesome, cool to see it served sliced rather than the normal "cheese stick". The cheesecake was okay and so was the brownie, but the bottom of the brownie was burnt, but everything above the burnt layer was good. Overall, I honestly don't know if I'd be back. Maybe to have drinks and a quick appetizer, but I won't throw down serious money in here. So I pretty much agree with what I'd heard by word of mouth, most of the food is okay, but not worth what they charge.
The food deserves 5 stars at least SAM'S BBQBurger does... But the restaurant/bar itself is 3 at best... let's start with dining outside: very pretty but if they are gonna have these huge plants behind the chairs they have to trim them! Also the waiter visited our table twice while we were out there we kinda felt forgotten. This happens EVERY time we are seated outside. Dining inside:they have a HUGE bar and it's beautiful but they have no space for tables sans one row of 4 cramped 4seat tables and 3 2seat booths the very rarely open up the large dining room and when they do it's the same as outside- you're forgotten. The waiter are always very friendly but you will never see the same waiter on any other visit to the restaurant.
I went with a coworker for lunch. We left court and walked right across the street, very convenient. I really liked the atmosphere there, very relaxing after being in court all morning. We went a bit after 11am and it was nearly empty, guess we beat the lunch hour crowd. I ordered an advacodo burger with sweet potatoe fries which was pretty good. My coworker ordered boneless wings and fries. She didn't like the wings; said she's had better. Overall though it was decent. And waiter was friendly.
Freaking Amazing little hole in the wall! If Guy Fiery ever gets South of Houston, he better come here! Always superior food! Prices are extremely affordable for venison, salmon, mahi mahi, even water buffalo! Pretty much, only 3 things on the menu over $20 and 2 of 3 are steaks. The drinks are kick-ass! It doesn't take much to get you drunk lol
I am from central TX & asked a table of local people what they recommended, it was the red fish, which was delicious! The service & especially the hospitality was outstanding!!!l
